FORGOT IT WAS FATHER’S DAY? WE DIDN’T…

NO, REALLY – WE KNEW THAT FATHER'S DAY IS THIS SUNDAY, 4TH SEPTEMBER. JUST LIKE YOU DID, TOO.

But, being busy with the release of the latest issue of Box Magazine we haven’t had a chance to pick up a suitably stylish present for dad yet. Lucky there’s still time. The Box Magazine team has curated a short, sweet list of gifts our dads would love, available in Australia and ready to buy right now. Pop in a heartfelt card, wrap it up with some clear cellophane and you’ll be his favourite, for sure.

HARDWORKING STYLE: R.M WILLIAMS BESPOKE BOOTS

Zero chance of you making it to the shops between now and Sunday? Here’s an idea: sit down with dad at the computer and design his dream boots with R.M Williams’ bespoke service.

Choose between the Adelaide or Craftsman style and customize everything from the type of leather (croc, anyone?) to the colour of the thread, elastic, edging and tugs. Add his intials, then simply give dad a hug and allow up to eight weeks for his new kit to be handcrafted and delivered, worldwide. As arguably one of Australia’s most iconic, hardworking brands, if your old man doesn’t have a pair already he probably deserves one.

WRIST CANDY: DIETRICH OT-5

A brand spanking newcomer to the hallowed watchmaking world (launched in 2014), Dietrich’s wristwatches are the perfect choice for lovers of form and design. Frenchman Emmanuel Dietrich carefully engineers each watch as an organic, fluid form meant to fit the contours of the wrist.

Each model is labeled OT for ‘Organic Time’ (his own concept) and the warm tones of the OT-5 make it a nice choice for father figures. It’s all bronze and brown hued, with hands, small seconds and 24-hour indicators coated with Tritec C5 Super-Luminova for a bit of night time punch.

DROP: 2006 RESCHKE BOS CABERNET SAUVIGNON

If dad loves a heartwarming red, this 10-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon will be a rare treat. In fact, you can get your hands on it right now, as Bos is the oldest current vintage available in Australia (most other current vintages are around five years old, and ‘members only’ waitlists will prevent you from purchasing anything older before Sunday).

Bos 2006 is a fine aged Cabernet matured in French oak, so dark and rich it is nearly black in the glass. It’s full of ripe fruit flavours like blackberries, blackcurrant and blueberries, dark chocolate warmth, and a wafting vanilla scent.
